Fall Garden

Fall Garden

It’s November and our fall garden box is full and lush!  I really enjoy dinking in and around our garden boxes especially this time of year when the air is so crisp and cool and you can see your breath in the morning. (…because it’s chilly, not from the salsa last night…)  Here’s what’s going on in our boxes…

The Big Nasty

Big Nasty

When I am in Tennessee, my friend and I go see our friend Adam Tyler.  I’ve known Adam since he was in high school.  Then he went to culinary school because he loves food. After a few years of doing this and doing that, meeting this famous person and cooking for that famous person, today he is the Chef at Gourmet’s Market in Knoxville, Tennessee.  It wasn’t enough that he already had amazing breakfasts like the Toad in a Hole, the Frog in a Ditch, and the Cinnamon Raisin French Toast but then he went and created The Big Nasty.  I love this dish so much, I bought the T-shirt!   So, add The Big Nasty to your bucket list and take a road trip to Knoxville.  You can thank me later, but also, be sure to get Adam’s grits. These aren’t your Mama’s or Gammy’s grits!!  You’re welcome.

Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

If you’ve ever had poison ivy, you have a story.  I’ve heard many and none of them are pleasant.  Some people can wallow in it, or as we say in our family, “waller” in it and have no reaction at all from the plant to those who will only have to look at this sketch and will get a rash…my apologies.  If you aren’t sure where you fit on the scale, I’ve given a detailed illustration of what to look for if you are the outdoors type and enjoy a walk in the forest or woods.  Simply find the plant, stop, drop and roll in it to see what your immunity levels are.  Hey, I’m here to help.

Blondes and Tennessee

Oreo

A few years ago, one of my best friends in Tennessee introduced me to Blonde Oreos and I have loved them ever since.  Many years ago, my basketball coach  in Tennessee introduced me to another blonde and I have loved her ever since. I married her 31 years ago this last week!   If you go by the pictures, we were 13 years old when we married…I am a man of many cookies, but only one wife.  How blessed am I?

Chicago

Chicago

Coming back from a recent trip to Atlanta, we had a layover in Chicago.  Here’s the view outside my window from seat 8A.  It is an amazing view coming into Chicago, the buildings seem to be right there!  Also amazing, we landed just after another plane landed without its front landing gear down and skidded metal to concrete to a stop. No one was injured and the pilot is a hero!  Our plane landed safely and our pilot is a hero!
