Moxie Mirror

moxie-mirror

This is a cool, big old looking mirror at a Moxie Java coffee shop.  I really liked the old mirror against the brick wall and the reflection in it of the front door.  This was a “quick sketch” just to keep in practice working at a quick pace.

Coffee People

CoffeePeople

You may have noticed I don’t do a lot of sketches of people.  The reason is they’re hard.  We don’t like hard, we like our comfort zone… This tells me I need to practice what I don’t like to get the most out of myself.  I keep a sketch pad with me that I practice with and I put no pressure on myself, just practice.  Let me tell you, there are some goooofy lookin’ people in that pad I have done wrong…  If I really don’t like it, I wad it up and practice my wastepaper basketball skills.  Win-win.  This guy came in from out of the pouring rain and sat down right in front of me and never moved! Perfect!  He just sipped his coffee and played on his IBM think pad that looked like it had some stories of its own.

Coffee People Watching

Coffee People

This lady sat down across the room from me and was great to sketch– profile, a cool bun-thingy going on with her hair, didn’t move but when she typed it sounded like a “Lord of the Dance” production.

Date Night

BeautyandBeast

Lastnight, my own lovely lady and I, after sharing a pina colada and gettin’ caught in the rain, went to see the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast.  It was really cool, and it is truly amazing how much time and effort these talented artists put in!  Memorizing lines, songs, dances, for 2 1/2 hours is remarkable.  We benefit from their extremely hard work!  Anyway, it was really fun and way better than the VHS animated version I own.  And, I apologize if that one song is now stuck in your head…

Rest

Shabbat

The most precious gift we have, is time.  Value it, cherish it, with family and friends.  Make it a priority to take time to enjoy it.  No talk about work, turn the TV off, put the cell phone away, far away and have real face to face talk and make someone feel blessed and happy.  Enjoy!!

Psst, Hey Carrots!

Carrots

So you may remember back in early Spring, I got all excited about these colorful carrots we were going to harvest.  Atleast the picture on the seed packet showed them like this…. OK, maaaybe, I traded my car for a packet of seeds called  “Professor Copperfield’s Miracle Legumes” from a guy on Craigslist.  Here’s all I got :

Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

If you’ve ever had poison ivy, you have a story.  I’ve heard many and none of them are pleasant.  Some people can wallow in it, or as we say in our family, “waller” in it and have no reaction at all from the plant to those who will only have to look at this sketch and will get a rash…my apologies.  If you aren’t sure where you fit on the scale, I’ve given a detailed illustration of what to look for if you are the outdoors type and enjoy a walk in the forest or woods.  Simply find the plant, stop, drop and roll in it to see what your immunity levels are.  Hey, I’m here to help.
