Coffee Studio

Support Local

Over the past couple of years I have drawn some local coffee shops/ coffee houses.  5 of them have closed …I don’t know, maybe my portrayal of their establishment had something to do with it…One is now a day spa, the other is some fing-shcwee sushi place, one became a Papa Murphys Pizza joint, and another one is now a Wing Stop. Coffee Studio is one of my favorite places.  Great atmosphere, clean, great service, but most importantly they know how to make my drink and they don’t roll their eyes when I ask for special stuff. So, just to be safe, I’m NOT going to draw the shop, just a cup, I want them to stay around for awhile.  “Am I superstitious?  No, I don’t think so, but I may be a little stitious.”

  1. I’m sure it’s hard to make a go of small business anywhere. Particularly a coffee shop when there are so many around. I hope this one stays to keep you caffeinated Brad.

  3. I hope you’re not drinking 20 oz of espresso at a single sitting! Would that actually be a single jitterbug?
We recently discovered a coffee roaster at one of our cruising destinations, St Michaels, Maryland. Living in the USA, we can’t say we are truly buying coffee locally. Love the drawing!

  4. Whew! at least you didn’t jinx them. I am a big fan of shopping local when it is at all possible–especially the farmer’s markets. Big fan of your sketching too.

  5. Oh my, one of our all time-all time favorite places–Victoria. We will definetly look up Macchiatos next time we’re there. Thanks for the tip!

  6. Yes! Support local! Woohoo. 😊 I always enjoy the humor you include in your art–the buy 100 get one free card. I like the colours you used especially on the bricks. The letters–all looks really good. My local coffee shop in downtown Victoria is called Macchiatos. They serve what I think is the BEST almond milk mocha because they’ll make it with Bernard Callebaut chocolate. Cheers.

  7. Trust me I am fussy too! Coffee is not coffee! It can be vile it can be awesome. I get you. And I love love love your illustrations. I really want to get into my art more when I am home from travelling. 🙂

  8. LOL, yes, you are a bit stitious. But I love your sketches and this one reminds me of my husband who has a million of those cards. I agree, buy local. We always try to support our local shops.
